Sir William Osler’s Community Rinks and shack are managed and maintained by caring neighbors who want to have a safe and fun place for neighborhood kids to enjoy the outdoors and some recreational fun aside from their scheduled activities.
William Osler School also uses the rink for their Phys Ed classes and is used by local daycares as well.
This gem was set to be torn down over 30 years ago until rescued and adopted by Tom Hayward who has been instrumental in his diligence toward keeping the rinks usable for South River Heights residents.
We require funds annually for board repairs, paint, shovels, snow blower and equipment maintenance, gas, insurance and other incidentals. We also host a community BBQ on Louis Riel/Family Day every year to raise money and build community connections.
