The Katimavik ODR has been a staple in our community for decades. This rink and attached puddle continue to serve as such a wonderful hub and meeting spot for our neighbours during the winter. Many of the rink volunteers has dedicated their time and energy on it for many years, but they keep coming back because they believe in the importance of having a community ODR that is available for all to use.
The volunteers also host a “Winterfest” event every year for our neighbours, which includes hockey on the rink, skating and curling on the puddle, and horse drawn sleigh rides in the adjoining field. This event is free for all and has been a great way to build up our community.
I am entering this contest as a way to say thank you to our incredible rink volunteers for their commitment and dedication to our community.
