When covid happened a few years ago, it was our son’s first year of hockey and it broke his heart they we’re canceling hockey. So Christmas Eve day I found out who owned the field behind our house, and asked permission to build a rink. Permission granted! So I ran to Home Depot, picked up some lumber and a tarp. Two days of rain and then cold weather and away he went skating. Over the last couple years I’ve collected used lumber and materials that would’ve ended up in landfill and it’s grown to where we are today. We’ve named it firehall field because across the field is the new firehall in embrun and we see the lights from the rink. This would be an amazing prize to win and the kids in our neighbourhood would definitely benefit as many use it!
