The Next Stride (the “Contest”) is sponsored by CARHA Hockey (the “Sponsor”). The Contest begins at 12:00:01 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) on May 20th, 2021 and ends at 11:59:59 PM ET on September 24th, 2021 (the “Contest Period”).

2. Eligibility

To be eligible to win, a person must be a resident of Canada who has reached the age of majority at the time of entry in the jurisdiction in which he/she resides and who is not an employee (or a member of any such employee’s immediate family (regardless of where they live) or a person with whom they are domiciled (whether related to the employee or not)), agent or representative of (i) the Sponsor, its affiliated companies or agents, or their respective advertising or promotional agencies or (ii) the independent contest organization. In these Official Rules, “immediate family” includes mother, father, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, partner and/or spouse. Should a minor be nominated and chosen by random draw as a winner, the prize would go by default to their parent and/or legal guardian. This person must also be a resident of Canada who has reached the age of majority at the time of entry in the jurisdiction in which he/she resides and who is not an employee (or a member of any such employee’s immediate family (regardless of where they live) or a person with whom they are domiciled (whether related to the employee or not)), agent or representative of (i) the Sponsor, its affiliated companies or agents, or their respective advertising or promotional agencies or (ii) the independent contest organization. The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. You understand that you are providing your information to the Sponsor and not to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. The information you provide will only be used for the administration of this Contest and in accordance with the Sponsor’s Privacy Policy (see below). Twitter, Facebook or Instagram is completely released of all liability by each entrant in this Contest. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Contest must be directed to the Sponsor and not to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

3. How to Enter

Visit [www.thenextstride.ca] to complete the official online contest entry form by entering your name, email address and/or photo and story.

No purchase necessary. All monthly winners will be eligible for the Grand Prize. By entering the contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by the Official Contest Rules set out herein, and accept the decisions of the Independent Contest Judging Organization and the Contest Sponsor as final and binding, without right of appeal, in all respects, including without limitation, as to eligibility and/or disqualification of entries. Entries that are incomplete, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of these Official Contest Rules shall be disqualified.

3. Prizes

MONTHLY PRIZES: There are 9 Monthly Prizes available to be won, each consisting of $500 to be donated on behalf of each winner to a local charity, business, sport association, community/municipality, etc. Monthly prizes also include CARHA Hockey swag. Cash prizes can go towards business or community initiatives (i.e. community projects, registered charities, local businesses, hockey related initiatives in recreation departments, etc.). It is recognized that these criteria will not apply with equal force to all entries or initiatives. Therefore, the criteria will be applied with appropriate consideration for the type of initiative or entry received. While winners will have the ability to choose where the cash prize is directed, CARHA Hockey reserves the right to make the final decision in its sole discretion.

GRAND PRIZE(S): There is one Grand Prize(s) available to be won, consisting of $10,000 to be donated to a local charity, business, sport association, community/municipality, etc. Cash prizes can go towards business or community initiatives (i.e. community projects, registered charities, local businesses, hockey related initiatives in recreation departments, etc.). It is recognized that these criteria will not apply with equal force to all entries or initiatives. Therefore, the criteria will be applied with appropriate consideration for the type of initiative or entry received. While winners will have the ability to choose where the cash prize is directed, CARHA Hockey reserves the right to make the final decision in its sole discretion. The Grand Prize(s) must be accepted as awarded, is/are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

GENERAL: Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable. No substitutions except at Sponsor’s option. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to substitute the prizes or a component thereof with a prize of equal or greater value, including, without limitation, but at Sponsor’s sole discretion, a cash award. Grand Prize(s) may not be sold to, bartered with, purchased by or utilized by a third party.

5. Winner Selection Process

MONTHLY PRIZES: Beginning on or about May 20th, 2021 and continuing monthly until August 31st, three (3) entries will be selected by random draw from amongst all eligible entries received by the Sponsor. Chances of winning a Monthly Prize depends on the number of eligible entries received. Only one (1) Monthly Prize will be awarded per person or household. Non-winning Monthly Prize entries received during the Contest Period will carry over to the next Monthly Prize random drawing; a limit of one (1) Monthly Prize entr(y/ies) by an entrant will be entered into the Grand Prize draw described below.

GRAND PRIZE(S): On or about October 1st, 2021, one (1) potential Grand Prize winner(s) will be selected by a social media vote from all 9 Monthly Prize winners.

Winners may be required to sign a declaration, a publicity consent, waiver and release or complete a skill testing question before receiving the prize.

In the case of a Monthly Prize, alternate selected entrants will be drawn randomly from among all non-winning entries received prior to each alternate random drawing; in the case of a Grand Prize, an alternate winner will be chosen based on the second highest number of votes.

6. General Conditions

By participating in the Contest all participants declare that they have read, understood and complied with the contest rules, consent to the use of their name, biographical information and/or likeness for the purposes of advertising and promotion without further compensation, agree to abide by all decisions by the Contest Sponsors (which are final), and agree to release and hold harmless the Contest Sponsors, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agencies from any liability in connection with participating in the Contest and/or any prize awarded. For any minors who are nominated, consent is provided by the nominator. The Contest is subject to all federal, provincial, municipal, and local laws. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to modify or terminate the Contest at any time without notice to participants. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

By participating in the Contest, each selected entrant agrees to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and judges with respect to all aspects of the Contest. All entries become the property of the Contest Sponsor upon receipt and will not be returned. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual (and all of his or her entries) who tampers with the entry process.

The Sponsor accepts no responsibility for loss, damage or claims caused by or resulting from the Contest or any prize. By participating and accepting a prize, each winner consents to the use of his/her name, address (city and province/territory), photograph and entry without further remuneration or notice, in connection with any publicity carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor with respect to the Contest.

The Sponsor and the Contest judges will not be liable for any failure of any website and do not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information, technical malfunctions, human or technical error, printing errors, lost, delayed or garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer lines or networks, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof. The Sponsor, its advertising and promotional agencies, their employees, directors, officers, affiliates, agents and representatives are not liable for (a) late, lost, delayed, not received, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, stolen, fraudulent or illegible entries (all of which shall be automatically void and not eligible for the prizes); (b) failure to receive entries due to transmission failures, busy signals, traffic congestion on the internet or at any website or technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any network, servers, access providers, hardware or software, whether originating with sender or recipient; or (c) any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Contest and breaches of privacy due to interference by third party computer “hackers”. Entries are subject to verification by the Sponsor. Entry materials/data not satisfying the entry requirements or that have been tampered with or altered are void.

In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an entry, the entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned an email address by an internet provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institute, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.

The Sponsor reserves the right, with the consent of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (the “Régie”) in the province of Québec, to terminate or amend the Contest at any time and in any way, without prior notice. Without limiting the foregoing, if, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, the Sponsor reserves the right with the consent of the Régie to cancel the Contest. The Sponsor and the independent contest organization shall not be held responsible for any problems, errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the Contest.

No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws.

The Sponsor respects your right to privacy. Personal information collected from entrants will only be used by the Sponsor to administer the Contest and, only if consent is given at the time of entry, to provide entrants with information regarding upcoming promotions and/or events from the Sponsor.
