Wildcat Year in Review

Wildcat hockey was back in 2021/22. As an association, we continued to deal with the pandemic, which put a pause on our sport during the second half of December and into January. Every family, in one way or another, has had to deal with Covid. We sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding of all our members. We also want to thank our coaches, instructors, and volunteers for their uninterrupted encouragement on and off the ice over the past two years.
Our objectives for the 2020/21 season were modest, in line with our provincial and OWHA restrictions. While registration was slightly off, we welcomed over 50 players to our inaugural First Shift program, which is geared toward first-time players and non-traditional hockey families between the ages of 6 and 10. The diversity of this group will make the future of Wildcat hockey stronger. In December, we led the collaboration of the Wildcats, Sharks, and Dolphins in sponsoring the PWHPA’s Dream Gap tour in Toronto. After a 2 year hiatus, our March Break Madness returned. The Wildcats hosted over 165 teams, and the revenue generated by our fundraising activities will be critical to our programming next year.
