Wakaw Minor Hockey Association is on its way up. Last season our association made strides to strengthen our program. This coming season we are launching a Learn to Play Hockey Program. This program is not exclusive to female athletes. Overall, encouraging families and their youth to play hockey in a small association like ours does not differentiate between male and female participants. Launching the Learn to Play Program, along with our members making an effort to get any new participants in any of the efforts we undertake, is important.
Last season our volunteers helped get the children of two families who were not previously involved in the game on the ice. This coming season we now have one of these families registering their daughters in our program. Again, whether it be female or male participants, our association works to get more kids playing the game. We achieve this goal by organizing equipment for these children to wear, in addition to making sure players and families feel welcome at the arena and on the ice. We work closely with our coaches and managers to ensure the families feel welcome and included.
