We have the fastest growing girls hockey association in the province of NL. Two years ago I started recruiting young female coaches as we mostly have males coaching hockey in general. This past year we had 3 new young female coaches with no initial ties to a team, girls who want to show young girls the game. I want the young girls to look up to female coaches and realize that there is a place for them in hockey. I would like to offer some courses, seminars, meetings and incentives for more female coaches to try coaching a team. I would also like to provide mental health training for these coaches as this course is not offered for free in the required coaching courses. Mental health first aid is just as important now as regular first aid.
