Mentoring Female Officials

The London Referees Group provides on-ice officials for all levels of hockey in London, Ontario. We have both female and male officials on staff and officiate girls and boys, women and men! We are on a mission to develop young females to become world class on-ice officials. Many strides have been taken but there is still lots of work to be done in the inclusion and acceptance of women in this aspect of hockey. At the forefront of our philosophy is the need to coach and mentor young officials to develop confidence in their knowledge of the rulebook, their positioning, and their judgement. This is done, primarily, by offering both formal and informal sessions (both on and off-ice) with our experienced female officials, of which there are a limited number! This money would be used to develop and implement further development opportunities and to recruit more female officials into the organization.
