Girls Intro to Hockey

Having both a son and daughter in hockey, my eyes were quickly opened to the inequity between girls and boys in the sport (especially in small towns). This prompted me to join the Nelson Minor Hockey Board as Female Director to see if I could start to affect change for girls playing hockey. We had our first ever Girls Intro to Hockey last season and it was a resounding success. We are looking to grow the membership by hosting female only programs to boost confidence and skill in an otherwise intimidating sport for girls to join. These funds would be used to subsidize ice time (in one of Canada’s oldest rinks) for the 8-12 week program.
