A place for women to learn a new sport, or continue on with a lifelong passion

The RWHL was created in 2019 with four teams, and expanded to six team in the 2022-23 season. Each year, we have a draft to make each team as even as possible ensuring every team has a mix of new players and skilled players to create a fun, competitive, and mentorship focused environment for any person who identifies as female. Our inclusive vision has created a space for women aged 18-70, new skaters, foreign born players and members of the LGBTQI+ community to play the sport we love. Our next step is to develop female referees. If we won the Game Changer prize, we would use the funds to pay for ref certification of females who are looking to earn income and develop officiating skills. As it is a safe place for players to learn and make mistakes, we foster this for our referees too. This would make our league 100% female participation and coordination.
