Bunbury Outdoor Rink

The Town of Stratford, PEI currently provides 3 outdoor rinks however due to the unusually warm winter we have experienced this year, one of those has not been able to open at all. Our Bunbury Outdoor Rink is made in the traditional way by packing snow, requiring a deep freeze for a few days to seal it in, then allowing our water to freeze on top of this base layer. We hope to be able to purchase a liner for next season so that the water is collected and stored on top of the liner allowing for a quicker freeze and process to create ice – ideally then being able to be made quicker and useable for even shorter periods of time if another winter like this one is experienced. This prize money will help us make this a reality!
